The ERSI has today announced that the Irish economy could grow at some point in the future, but also stated the economy could contract. The Dublin-based economic think tank said that it’s also possible the economy might grow and then contract, contract and then grow, move sideways, stagnate, or even do something not foreseen.
On the jobs front, they claimed that over the next two years, unemployment could reach as high as 15%, if not higher, but could also be as low as 4%, or perhaps split the difference, or disappear altogether in the right circumstances.
According to their recently published paper, by 2095 the economy might be increasing rapidly and Ireland could have balmy Mediterranean temperatures, although there could also be another ice age and a period of economic decline, or some other combination of temperature and output. The paper doesn’t mention whether Ireland could have Mastodons roaming the Shannon Valley if another ice age were to occur, nor do they mention the economic benefits that might be accrued due to exporting Mastodon meat to Dubai.
They do, however, say that the government should take certain actions, if certain outcomes are desired, although there is no guarantee that such outcomes would be achieved. However, other actions might also have an effect of outcomes not previously considered.
